State Library Victoria is hosting a range of online activities and programs for children and teens to keep them busy during the school holidays.
With restrictions still in place across Victoria, these programs are designed to be done from home and encourage learning, creativity and fun for all.
Research essentials for secondary students
For those studying over the school break, we’ve got the perfect series to help students make the most of the Library’s online resources. Students will learn how to look beyond the top search results in Google and develop practical skills to find reliable information online, helping them with their studies or next big project.
Designed for teens in years seven to 10, access the series every Tuesday at 10.30am here.
Building an imaginary landscape with Tai Snaith
Renowned author and illustrator Tai Snaith will encourage children to use their imagination and create a make-believe world from their dreams! Tai will read from her latest storybook, You might find yourself, and then guide her audience through a special workshop using watercolours and paper to build their very own imaginary landscape.
Suitable for children aged nine to 12, the workshop can be joined any time throughout the holidays by visiting the event webpage.
Storytime
Parents can share the delight of stories, songs, play and craft activities with their pre-schooler every Wednesday and Friday at 9.30am. Guided by one of our lovely librarians, expect lots of laughter and learning.
For children aged three to five, and their parents and carers , access Storytime here.
Baby Bounce
It’s never too early to start reading and sharing a love of books! Join us here for a fun, interactive session of stories, songs and rhymes every Thursday and Saturday at 9.30am. You’ll be able to watch the session from a video link that will be displayed on this page at the start of the event.
For children aged 18 months and under, and their parents and carers, join the fun here.
