One of the country’s most fabulous festivals returns to the stunning Red Centre from 12-14 March 2021, and this year’s fabALICE features some welcome new additions to the program.
To kick off the three days of festivities, and in the spirit of inclusivity, NT Police will hold an official Rainbow Flag-Raising Ceremony at 10am on Friday, 12 March, at the Alice Springs Police Station. All are welcome to attend.
In addition, this year’s Friday evening Street Party will feature some of the Territory’s essential workers, with members from PFES and St John NT leading the parade. Their inclusion is a small way to show the community’s appreciation for their efforts during the COVID pandemic. The Street Party, which takes place in Todd Mall from 5-9pm, is a free event and all are welcome.
In another first for the festival, Network 10’s The Project will cross to one of Australia’s best-known entertainers, Courtney Act, live from Alice Springs this week. Courtney is in town to meet some indigenous drag queens and find out more about fabALICE. This will see the event beamed across the nation.
fabALICE features cabaret, comedy, drag, film, music and more against the glittering landscape of Alice Springs. The event, which began in 2019, continues to grow in popularity, with the 2021 Saturday night Carnivale already sold out. In another new development, this year’s program also features a number of Partner Events. The first is a viewing of Bohemian Rhapsody screening at Alice Springs Cinema on 11 March 2021 at 6pm.
