Recreational boating enthusiasts throughout Western Australia are being urged to discuss ideas for new and improved facilities with $1.5 million in State Government funding now available.
Local governments, State Government agencies and statutory authorities responsible for recreational boating facilities have until September 3, 2019, to apply for a grant from round 24 of the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.
Eligible projects include the planning, construction or upgrade of boat launching ramps, jetties, moorings, breakwaters and new channels directly related to a public recreational boating facility.
Land based infrastructure at public boating facilities such as trailer parking areas, toilets and boating signage are also eligible.
Boating facility managers can apply for up to 75 per cent of the cost of a project, with the maximum grant available set at $750,000.
Previous successful projects include $700,000 to the City of Melville to upgrade the popular Point Walter boating facility, and more than $180,000 for the City of Busselton to design and build a new floating finger jetty at Port Geographe and add extra ladders to existing finger jetties at the Old Dunsborough and Abbey boat ramps.
