The State Government announced $3.5 million of funding towards the construction of an independent living village in Leonora.
The Leonora Ageing in Place project will be built adjacent to the main street and comprise eight modern units with individual private courtyards. The facility will also include a community hall, communal gardens and barbecue facilities.
The Shire of Leonora is contributing $1 million to the $4.5 million project.
The units will incorporate best practice ageing in place principles, enabling residents to live independently in the community while accessing local and visiting support services as they are required.
The funding is part of the Regional Aged Accommodation Program, which is also delivering independent living units across the Mid-West, Wheatbelt, Peel, South-West and Great Southern regions.
