With European vibes and fresh mountain air, heading to the heart of the Macedon Ranges for the Woodend Winter Arts Festival over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend is the perfect getaway for a day or more.
Now in it’s 15th year, the volunteer run Festival brings some of the best classical music talent from overseas, combines it with the best of Australian vocal and musical talent, and mixes it with a range of author and political panels, writers workshops and free art exhibitions.
From Vivaldi to Rachmaninov, Bach to Nick Cave, through to the more interactive tango concert or joining poets at the pub, or checking out how the Oud can feature in not one but two concerts, there is something for everyone (including free and kid-friendly events).
The Woodend Winter Arts Festival is held over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend 7 – 10 June 2019, with free Fireworks on opening night (7 June 2019) at Buffalo Stadium in Woodend.
