A remarkable piece of Australian motorsport history, the 1991 VN Group A Touring Car driven by none other than Peter Brock, is set to hit the auction block this weekend alongside its original limited build predecessor.

These legendary vehicles, which played a significant role in Australian motorsport and the Australian Touring Car Championship, offers collectors and enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own pieces of motor racing heritage.

The demand for Peter Brock-related memorabilia, especially his racing cars, remains higher than ever, further driving up prices with collectors eager to secure a part of his legacy.

Built in 1991 by Perkins Engineering, Peter Brocks 1991 VN Touring Car Debuted at Sandown in Round 1 and is now racing towards the auction blocks this weekend.

Alongside the motor sport icon stands its older brother, a rare and highly sought-after 1990 HSV VN SS Group A Commodore build 129 of only 302 ever made in factory original condition.

This vehicle represented the status of homologation specially built for racing under Group A regulations which ultimately lead to the build Peter Brocks VN Group A Touring Car.

The showroom floor price for the road car version of the 1990 HSV VN SS Group A Commodore when it was first released was approximately just over $30,000 at the time, now its value is estimated to be worth sevenfold.

This was a high price at the time of 1990, reflecting the car’s exclusivity and its status as a homologation special built for racing under Group A regulations. Only 302 vehicles were built, making it a rare and highly sought-after model even upon release​.

“Not only do we have the race car but the road car as well which is an extremely unique opportunity for someone to own the motor racing version of the Group A Commodores alongside the limited build road car and have them sit side by side in their living room, mancave or garage!” continued Mr. Hames.

“The auction is expected to attract significant interest from collectors, motorsport enthusiasts, and investors alike,” Mr. Hames said.

Peter Brock is an icon in Australian motorsport. His extraordinary career spanned over three decades, during which he secured nine Bathurst 1000 victories, among countless other accolades. The 1991 VN Group A Touring Car is one of the iconic vehicles that Brock piloted during his career, making it a true collector’s item.

This classic and over 200 others ranging from Australian, European and American Classics will be all going under the hammer this Saturday 31st August at a LIVE classic car auction event closing from 12pm.
