Ariarne Titmus becomes first individual athlete to feature on Tokyo 2020 Gold Medallist stamps

After her incredible performance in the pool, Ariarne Titmus will become Australia’s first individual gold medallist to feature on an Australia Post Australian Gold Medallist Stamp for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Titmus’ triumphant effort in the Women’s 400m Freestyle event saw her post an Australian record winning time of 3:56.69, edging out the USA’s Katie Ledecky and China’s Li Bingjie.

Stamps featuring an image of Titmus with her gold medal in Tokyo will be available in participating Australia Post retail outlets from Thursday 29 July 2021, while stocks last.

Titmus joins fellow Olympians Bronte Campbell, Meg Harris, Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell as the fifth Australian athlete to feature on a stamp through the Australian Gold Medallist Stamps program, with the Women’s 4 x 100 metre Relay Team’s stamp available online and in participating stores from today (July 28 2021).

Australia Post will celebrate each Australian gold medal performance in Tokyo with a gold medallist stamp, which will be produced within 72 hours of the medal ceremony taking place and available in participating Post Offices, via mail order on 1800 331 794, and online while stocks last.

Australia Post Executive General Manager Community & Consumer Nicole Sheffield said the gold medallist stamp program recognises the hard work and success of our athletes while providing the public with an opportunity to connect with this year’s Olympic Games.

“These Games are unlike any other in history, and we’re proud to be able to recognise our Olympians in this way and help Australians celebrate these remarkable athletes who are representing their country and performing at their peak,” Ms Sheffield said.

Australia Post was the first postal organisation in the world to produce instant stamps at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and has gone on to produce Australian Gold Medallist Stamps that feature athletes from both Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
