Additional weekly flight to be trialled between Kununurra and Balgo

The WA Government has committed $400,000 towards an additional weekly flight between Kununurra and Balgo, in the State’s North-West.

This will be the third weekly service between Balgo and Kununurra, via Halls Creek, and is due to commence in February 2021.

The Kununurra-Halls Creek-Balgo air route is the only one in regional Western Australia that currently has less than three return services per week.

Aviair currently provides two return air services per week between Balgo and Kununurra, via Halls Creek, with the route subsidised by the State and Commonwealth governments.

The additional weekly flight will ensure Balgo and Halls Creek residents have access to regular flights to and from Kununurra, which is crucial as the service is largely used by communities to access health and other key services.

In 2020, the WA Government committed $24.4 million to regional aviation recovery in Western Australia, benefiting regional travellers, tourism and the WA economy.
