Aboriginal trainees and apprentices to benefit from housing in Kununurra

Aboriginal trainees can now live near where they work or train thanks to the leasing of five State Government dwellings in Kununurra.

The three houses and two units will enable the Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Aboriginal Corporation (MG Corporation) to accommodate up to 10 trainees and apprentices.

The initiative is part of the State Government’s Employment and Education Housing Program, which provides supported affordable accommodation for Aboriginal people to undertake or access training in areas where there are employment opportunities.

The Government, through the Department of Communities, owns five Kununurra dwellings that are part of the program.

Kununurra-based MG Corporation represents the interests of the Miriuwung and Gajerrong people who are native title holders in the East Kimberley region.
