Fifteen local governments across Western Australia will share in close to $3 million to help reduce bushfire risks in their communities this summer.
Under the second round of the 2020-2021 Mitigation Activity Fund (MAF) Grants Program, the 15 local governments will receive funding to conduct mitigation activities in high bushfire-risk areas.
More than 650 bushfire risks will be treated in the Great Southern through to the Goldfields and metropolitan Perth.
The activities include mechanical treatments to reduce fuel levels, the creation of firebreaks and planned burns when appropriate.
Mitigation funding grants are available to local governments that have an endorsed Bushfire Risk Management Plan.
