Grants of up to $10,000 are available for community organisations and local governments to implement projects that focus on the unique issues faced by Western Australian women.
Women’s Interests Minister Simone McGurk announced that the WA Government’s Grants for Women program is open for applications.
The funding is available through the Department of Communities to support projects that align with the vision, outcomes and actions detailed in ‘Stronger Together: WA’s Plan for Gender Equality’ by addressing one or more of its priority areas:
- Health and Wellbeing;
- Safety and Justice;
- Economic Independence; and
- Leadership.
While significant advances have been made to remove barriers faced by women, there is still work to do to achieve gender equality and bring about lasting solutions in the community.
Stronger Together: WA’s Plan for Gender Equality provides a roadmap for industries, communities, governments and individuals to drive change.
Grants are available for eligible organisations to deliver a range of projects, with up to $5,000 available for one-off activities or initiatives that contribute to the program’s priority areas, and up to $10,000 for longer-term strategic initiatives that will contribute to creating sustainable or systemic change.
Priority will be given to projects that:
- respond to the gendered impacts of COVID-19 by supporting targeted pathways to women’s social and economic recovery;
- provide innovative approaches to achieving the program’s priority areas;
- are delivered in collaboration with other organisations; and
- ensure a regional spread of funding across WA.
