Several Council facilities set to reopen as COVID-19 restrictions ease

Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) wishes to advise that several of its community facilities and outdoor recreational areas will reopen to the public over the coming days.

The decision to reopen these facilities aligns with the Queensland Government’s roadmap to easing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.

From Saturday 16 May 2020, Council-owned playgrounds (including barbecues), skateparks and outdoor fitness equipment will reopen.

Visitors to these facilities are asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines and to not gather in groups of more than 10 people.

Amenities at Auckland Hill and Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre will also reopen from 16 May 2020.

Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens’ playground and amenities will also reopen from 16 May 2020, with the administration office reopening from Monday 18 May 2020.

Five of Council’s six libraries (Agnes Water, Boyne Island, Calliope, Gladstone City and Miriam Vale) will reopen from 18 May 2020 with a limit of 10 customers at a time, with visitors asked to be respectful towards staff and to implement social distancing.

Mount Larcom Library is currently undergoing refurbishments and will reopen from 25 May. Gladstone Regional Libraries’ Click and Collect service will continue at all locations.

Also reopening from 18 May 2020 is Council’s Community Engagement Centre (142 Goondoon Street), with restrictions in place on the number of people who can gather at the facility.

Meeting rooms will be restricted to no more than 10 people and no more than three people will be allowed to congregate in the waiting area at a time.

GRC originally closed these facilities in March 2020 as a proactive measure to the COVID-19 health emergency following advice from the Queensland and Australian Governments.

The Agnes Water Rural Transaction Centre (71 Springs Road), Mount Larcom Rural Transaction Centre (47 Raglan Street), Gladstone Customer Service Centre (101 Goondoon Street), Miriam Vale Customer Service Centre (41 Blomfield Street) and Calliope Customer Service Centre (5 Don Cameron Drive) all reopened on Monday 11 May 2020.
