Road to Recovery: Interstate Tourism Targeted in New Events Campaign

From the breathtaking projections at Parrtjima, to the sound of the Supercars, and the vibrant colours and culture at Barunga – the Northern Territory really does have it all when it comes to our unique and cultural calendar of events.

To ensure interstate travellers keep the Territory at the top of their lists when planning their next escape, a new campaign will be rolled out nationally from today (February 8 2021).

The Northern Territory continues to be the safest place in the country – and when it comes to events – the envy of the nation.

The campaign will promote the Territory’s lively event season, with the central focus on three main events:

  • Parrtjima: A Festival in Light; a free 10-night festival in Alice Springs in April
  • Barunga Festival; a celebration of music, sport and Aboriginal culture in the Katherine region in June
  • Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair; a world-class showcase of Aboriginal art in Darwin in August

The campaign will run from 8 February to 30 June 2021, and will also include travel deals and packages with the Northern Territory’s trade partners, WebJet, NT Now and Luxury Escapes.

The campaign is designed to plant the Territory seed in travellers, and capitalise on the drive-market for interstate visitors.

Event organisers are encouraged to ensure their events are listed and up to date on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) to be included on Tourism NT’s events portal: https://northernterritory.com/things-to-do/festivals-and-events.
