Queensland cowboy Nash Jones eyes Mount Isa Mines Rodeo title

100 days. That’s how long young-gun Glamorgan Vale cowboy Nash Jones has to prepare for his first assault on Mount Isa Mines Rodeo as an Open rider.

He’s made no secret that he aims to be Australia’s Best Bull Rider, and if his mantlepiece is anything to go by, he will.

Last year at ‘Isa, the biggest and richest rodeo in the Southern Hemisphere, he tied for 1st place in the 2nd Division Bull Ride, and won the Junior Steer Ride and the 2nd Division All Round Cowboy titles. In 2018, he competed in the USA in the Junior High School World Finals where he finished 11th in the World, the next year, he competed in the Youth Bull Riding finals in Texas and came 7th in the world, and at the International Mini Bull Ride finals in Los Vegas, he finished 8th in the world.

This year, it’s Open all the way and he’s ready.

Rodeo is in his blood – his father Marcus was a professional bull rider, and he had Nash on the back of sheep and calves at three years old. Yep, he’s one to watch in 100 days.

Tickets to the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo go on sale Monday 8th May.
