Medieval Faire To Hit Orange!

Birds of Prey will swoop, and lances will break at the the inaugural Orange Medieval Faire, to be held at the Orange Showground on 19-20 March 2022!

Thousands of people are expected to attend the event in New South Wales’ Central West, where they will see spectacular jousting knights, ferocious Vikings, birds of prey, a giant medieval catapult and more.

Visitors of all ages are invited to step back in time and enter the Faire’s living medieval village, for an immersive experience like no other, brought to life by over 300 talented re-enactors from around Australia.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole says a $200,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund will deliver the world-class, two-day Medieval Faire.

“We’re bringing medieval Western Europe to the Central West and staging this world-class event in regional NSW for the very first time,” Mr Toole said.

“Top notch jousters, including current world champion, Australian Phillip Leitch, will go head-to-head in the jousting championship.”

Mr Toole says the event will be a major boost to the local Orange economy, attracting more visitors to the Central West region and highlighting all that Orange has to offer. The event is expected to inject approximately $2 million into the local economy.

Orange Medieval Faire organiser and international jouster Andrew McKinnon says the event will give more people the chance to experience medieval western Europe from the Dark Ages to the Renaissance.

“This type of event is a unique and amazing family experience, featuring the clash of swords, the thunder of hooves and the smashing of lances! We will see you ready for battle on March 19 and 20 at the Orange Showground,” Mr McKinnon said.

The family-friendly Orange Medieval Faire boasts a range of activities for all ages, including:
