Love & Forgetting cocktail cabaret in Dubbo

In partnership with The Establishment Bar, the RARE BIRD ensemble presents LOVE & FORGETTING—Tales from a Young Mixer, a cocktail cabaret devised and performed by Jeremy James and Jack Martin.

  • Pull up a bar stool, sip an Old Fashioned, and be transported to yesteryear by an exquisite cocktail of song, story and stardust memory.
  • Performed by a bartender in a working bar, LOVE & FORGETTING raises a glass to storytelling, community, and growing up in regional Australia.
  • One night only! A unique immersive encounter developed by the first Theatre Artists-in-Residence at the Sofitel Melbourne On Collins. • Do not miss an unforgettable evening with this SELL-OUT SHOW from the Melbourne Fringe before it tours the country.

RARE BIRD’s debut work is a masterfully woven cabaret bursting with timeless charm. It tells a story through the stories of others, weaving fragments from classic cinema, literary icons and tunes of yesteryear with conversations from bartenders past and present, and the artists’ own lives, into “a set of memories stirred and tales shaken by a Martini.”

Illuminating the bar as an age-old site for storytelling, LOVE & FORGETTING – Tales from a Young Mixer quenches a thirst for communion and our insatiable desire to dream. A multi-sensory experience that invites you to drink a toast “to friendship, sharing stories, love … and … something else … I forget …”

The show plays with the slippery distinction between the real and the unreal in the stories we tell ourselves and each other, as it blurs the boundaries between the actor and audience, the public and private, fact and fiction. Raising questions about memory, make-believe, truth, and performance itself, these tales of love and forgetting promise to stir your passions and shake your spirit.

2nd of May at The Establishment Bar Dubbo. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the cost is $45.
