Local community gets its say on secondary schooling for Cannington and broader south-east region

WA Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has announced a consultation process to gauge opinions in the community about secondary schooling for families living in the Cannington area and broader south-east metropolitan region.

As part of the consultation process, the State Government will put options to the community for a more seamless education in the area.

Currently, Cannington Community College enrols students from kindergarten to Year 10. Yule Brook College, located in Maddington, caters for Years 7 to 10 and Sevenoaks Senior College in Cannington caters for Years 11 and 12. In addition, Cannington Community Education Support Centre operates as a Year 7 to 12 school across two campuses – Cannington Community College and Sevenoaks Senior College.

The eight-week consultation will involve school communities including parents, prospective parents, school boards and councils and parents and citizens’ associations, from primary and secondary schools in the broader south-east region. Staff and other community members will also be invited to provide their opinions at community forums and in an online survey.
