Kicking in to make Victoria the active state

The Victorian Government is encouraging Victorian sport and recreation clubs to apply for their share in $27 million worth of Together More Active funding, to help break down barriers to participation.

Victoria’s sport and recreation sector plays a fundamental role in helping millions of Victorians participate in the community and reach their potential.

The Victorian Government is proud to partner with our sport and recreation organisations through the Together More Active program, to create new pathways and opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to realise their sporting dreams.

The grants build on the work of the Government’s previous Supporting Victorian Sport and Recreation Program and will help sporting associations become stronger and more sustainable.

The program is also looking for initiatives that encourage gender equality, build integrity, develop our coaches, officials and volunteers, and assist people of all abilities to participate. Measures to encourage participation of Indigenous Victorians and people of culturally and linguistically-diverse backgrounds are also sought.

Since 2014, the Government has each year worked with sport and recreation partners to support more than 1000 initiatives aimed at helping Victorians be more physically active.

Every year more than 50,000 people have benefitted as participants, coaches, officials, volunteers and administrators, boosting participation for women and girls, people with disability, LGBTI people, Indigenous Victorians, new arrivals and people in regional and rural Victoria.
