Growcom welcomes On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure boost

Growcom has welcomed the announcement that the Queensland Government has signed onto the Australian Government’s On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme.

The expanded rebate scheme delivers practical support to farmers to complete critical on-farm water infrastructure projects in order to maintain a more reliable and sustainable water supply into the future.

Growcom Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Barnard said it was welcome news to see the Queensland Government had listened and responded to Growcom’s calls and concerns.

“Today’s (May 20 2021) announcement is welcome news and will go a long way to restoring confidence in the government.”

Under the scheme the Australian Government is allocation $1.7 million to pay rebates to those 398 farmers in Queensland who spent money in good faith and were previously unable to get a refund because the scheme was oversubscribed.

A further $1.9 million, to be matched by the Queensland Government, will also be provided for new applicants to the scheme.
