Expressions of interest for visitor shuttle transport service open

Parks Victoria is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) to operate the hop on hop off sustainable visitor shuttle service within Point Nepean National Park.

By providing an exclusive shuttle service at Point Nepean National Park, the successful proponent will connect multiple attractions and experiences and help expand visitor accessibility across the park.

Operating between the park entrance, Quarantine Station and Fort Nepean, the shuttle will have exclusive vehicle access past Gunners Cottage making this shuttle service key to accessing the furthermost point of the park for those not walking or cycling.

Just over an hour from Melbourne’s CBD, Point Nepean National Park welcomes around 500,000 visitors annually, with more than 25,000 utilising the shuttle each year.

A permit term of three years is available and includes:

  • Exclusive vehicle access beyond Gunners Cottage public carpark to Fort Nepean
  • Opportunities to provide services for major events and other activities within the park
  • Exclusive vehicle access for all group bookings to Fort Nepean
  • Opportunity to partner with other Point Nepean National Park and regional services and experiences

Currently, there are more than thirty activity providers licenced to conduct guided tours in the park offering activities such as heritage tours, bushwalking and bike riding.

The Point Nepean Master Plan identified the opportunity to provide a sustainable shuttle transport service that would expand visitor experiences and enrich understanding of the park’s recreational and environmental significance.

The EOI opens today and will close at 4pm 17 May 2019.
