Exciting updates for Winton's Way Out West Fest

As the days grow shorter in North-West Queensland, excitement builds in Winton. The good folks in the remarkable outback town have big hearts and even bigger imaginations, as they are preparing for Winton’s Way Out West Fest (April 6-11 2021): an iconic six days of musical celebration and all-star Aussie entertainment. Tickets are selling fast, and for those planning an outback adventure like no other, we are excited to announce new updates.

An extra day of music and entertainment has been added to the main stage line-up on Thursday April 8 2021. The Thursday line-up will include a Slim Dusty tribute show by Slim’s original Travelling Country Band, and performances from big names such as Chad Morgan, Sara Storer, and The Bushwackers, who are celebrating 50 years of musical mateship and their recent elevation into the Australasian Country Music’s Roll of Renown. After sunset, the film-documentary Slim & I will play on the big screen under the stars. A must-see for fans of Slim Dusty and Joy McKean.

Main stage line-up will also include family entertainment from the hilarious, whip-cracking slapstick duo The Crackup Sisters who hail from Winton and have featured at the Calgary Stampede in Canada, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and have hosted The Big Red Bash. They are known for their big props, big hearts, big movements and sharing big laughs.

Throughout the week, Winton will be celebrating its iconic Aussie legacy and its outstanding array of historic pubs! Of course, pub-goers can fill their ears (and their glasses) to the brim with live entertainment wherever they go.

“With an extra day of entertainment on Thursday 8th, along with a program packed with music, workshops and special events in the hotels, Winton will definitely be the place to celebrate Aussie music in April (2021).” Festival Producer, Jeff Chandler says, “As school children will be on holidays at the time, the inclusion of the highly entertaining Crackup Sisters, along with local tourist attractions like the Australian Age of Dinosaurs and Waltzing Matilda Centre will make a trip to the Queensland outback a must this Easter.”

Along with its already impressive line-up of heavyweights, emerging talent will also share the spotlight and take the stage via the Maton Rise-Up Showcase. Up-and-coming artists will be able to test their mettle and learn from the greats, winning the hearts of the people for chance to take home some brand new equipment. Stewarding the showcase is Gretta Ziller, an acclaimed singer-songwriter who had a few words to say:

“Emerging artist programs like the Maton Rise-Up Showcase are such an amazing opportunity for artists. From my own personal experiences these platforms give newer artists the arena for people to find them: from fans, to media, to other artists. Even if you’re not the winner, the exposure and opportunities that come from participating are priceless.”

Gretta paved her way to success through artist showcases and talent competitions including Toyota Star Maker in Tamworth and the Gympie Muster emerging talent showcase.

“That’s why I’m honoured to be a part of the Maton Rise-Up Showcase at Winton’s Way Out West Fest, the talent that has already applied has been outstanding. I can’t wait to see who will be part of the final Rise-Up line-up!”

Applications for Rise-Up are still open until Sunday Feb 14 2021.
