The festivities kick off in grand style on Sunday, 3 September, with the enchanting Zoocoustics event at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Immerse yourself in a captivating atmosphere, enjoying live music by talented local artists such as Elle Flanaghan, Sy Allen, and Harriet Fahy.
The headline act for the evening is none other than Australian country music sensation Andy Penkow. Bring your picnic rug and join the community for a delightful evening of music and entertainment in the picturesque setting of the zoo. What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than surrounded by great tunes and even greater company?
The excitement continues on Saturday, 9 September, with the DREAM Lanterns event at Victoria Park. From 12pm onwards, the park will come alive with a bustling market atmosphere, featuring various stalls, roving performers, and delectable gourmet food options. Families will be thrilled to discover DREAMLand, a dedicated children’s area offering multiple engaging activities to entertain the young.
As the sun sets, the main stage at Victoria Park will showcase the region’s finest musical talents and performers, providing a lively backdrop to the festivities. And the highlight of the evening is the dazzling lantern parade along Talbragar Street. Watch in awe as participants march with intricately illuminated lanterns and stunning lantern sculptures, creating a mesmerising spectacle that celebrates the artistic spirit of the community. To herald the parade’s start, a group of Taiko drummers will set the rhythm and excitement in motion.
The magical lanterns themselves are a testament to the collaborative efforts of local school students and community groups. These vibrant creations have been lovingly crafted and adorned in workshops guided by the expertise of Jyllie Jackson from LightnUp Inc.
But that’s not all the Dubbo DREAM Festival has in store for you. Look forward to a series of upcoming events, including the Glow Hard Fun Run, Devil’s Hollow Pub Rock, and the unforgettable experience of a Silent Disco. With such an eclectic range of events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and create lasting memories.
