Cr Bob Kirk re-elected Mayor

Goulburn Mulwaree Council has re-elected Councillor Bob Kirk as Mayor for the final year of this term of Council. Councillor Peter Walker has been re-elected Deputy Mayor.

Mayor Kirk was the first elected Councillor in the 2016 election with 2,555 votes. He was elected Mayor in 2016 unopposed, following eight years as deputy mayor and a member of Goulburn Mulwaree Council.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council recently confirmed the Budget & Operational Plan for 2020/21, centred around completion of a number of once in a lifetime projects such as the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, and the Goulburn Aquatic & Leisure Centre.

Prior to being on Council Mayor Kirk worked in the banking sector with Commonwealth Bank for a number of decades, returning to Goulburn as Senior Branch Manager in 1991. He left the Bank in 1998 before holding several local management positions before retiring in 2011 as Secretary Manager of the Goulburn Golf Club.

Both elections were held by ordinary ballot. Cr Bob Kirk was elected Mayor in a 5 votes to 4 result; Cr Peter Walker also nominated for Mayor. Cr Peter Walker was elected Deputy-Mayor in a 5 votes to 4 result also, Cr Leah Ferrara also nominated for Deputy Mayor.

The next local government elections for Goulburn Mulwaree will be held in September 2021.
