In a Queensland exclusive, direct from Brazil, international music superstars Jorge Ben Jor and Liniker e os Caramelows will headline HOTA’s OUT LOUD Festival.
The Brazilian community in South-East Queensland is buzzing with anticipation after the announcement of the two superstars coming together in this epic outdoor party of Samba, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Tropicália and Soul.
Known as the living legend and ‘father of samba rock’, Jorge Ben Jor is one of the most influential Brazilian artists of all time.
Since bursting into the music scene with Mas Que Nada in 1963, his music has been covered by artists worldwide including Ella Fitzgerald and Sergio Mendes from Black Eyed Peas, plagiarised by Rod Stewart and quoted by former US President, Barack Obama.
Joining Jorge Ben Jor on the stage and fresh off the back of a world album tour is Liniker e os Caramelows, one of Brazil’s fastest rising stars who has been capturing hearts and minds with her dynamic voice, smooth style and raw performances.
Liniker’s unique blend of Brazilian pop music with soul has made her a breath of fresh air in the South American music scene.
A transgender musician who uses her profile to promote social change and represent black Trans culture, Liniker uses her platform as an advocate against violence against queer people in Brazil. The group’s latest album Goela Baixo has also been nominated for a Latin Grammy Award.
HOTA CEO, Criena Gehrke, said that the opportunity to see living legend Jorge Ben Jor on the same line up as Liniker is incredibly special.
“With a program full of Australian firsts and audience favourites, we’re excited to be adding some Brazilian flavour to the OUT LOUD Festival line-up with these major international headliners,” said Criena.
“You don’t have to speak Portuguese to be entranced by these artists; their music and love for life is universal and it’s something you won’t want to miss.”
Jorge Ben Jor and Liniker e os Caramelows will perform on the Outdoor Stage at HOTA, Home of the Arts, on Friday 6th March 2020 after the support act who will be playing from 4.30pm.
This performance is part of the HOTA’s OUT LOUD Festival, spanning 10 days from March 6 to 15 2020, featuring a diverse line-up of international and local artists in a celebration through arts of our ever-changing world.
