New board members for Museum and Art Gallery of the NT

Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Chansey Paech has appointed three new members to the Board of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).

Mr Andrew Hopper, Dr Wendy Ludwig and Professor Barry Judd have each been appointed for three-year terms and will bring a wide range of experiences and skills to the Board.

They join seven current Board Members in managing MAGNT and its seven facilities in Darwin and Alice Springs; and providing leadership in the provision of museum and art gallery services across the Territory.

The new appointees bring valuable knowledge and experience across a range of areas including tourism, major events, entertainment, business and Aboriginal culture and education.

Mr Hopper is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade and has extensive experience in tourism and major events, business development, precision planning and robust governance.

Dr Ludwig recently retired as the Vocational Education and Training Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education and has had a lengthy career in Aboriginal education and training.

Professor Judd is the University of Melbourne’s Indigenous Studies, Culture and Communications Director and specialises in Indigenous identity, issues that affect Indigenous people in Central Australia, and Indigenous participation in Australian sports.
