More Victorian families will be able to connect with nature thanks to a $400,000 boost to the Junior Ranger program from outdoor adventure retailer Macpac.
The hugely successful Junior Ranger Program, run by Parks Victoria for decades, encourages kids to explore Victoria’s amazing parks with a real park ranger by taking part in activities like rock pool rambles, historic tours and spotlight night walks.
In the last eight years alone, more than 62,000 kids have used the program as an opportunity to get out and explore the outdoors, building greater connections with nature and conservation.
Parks Victoria will host more than 100 fun and educational outdoor activities in parks across Victoria as part of the Junior Ranger Program these winter holidays, 29 June to 14 July 2019.
Some of the free activities include searching for creatures on a Minibeast Discovery, going on a Nature Treasure Hunt or becoming a Wildlife Detective.
The three-year Macpac corporate sponsorship will grow the Junior Rangers Program and is an investment in the next generation of conservation and environment advocates.
This first of its kind partnership is part of Parks Victoria’s new Corporate Partnerships program enabled by the Parks Victoria Act 2018, which allows Parks Victoria to connect with the corporate sector to provide sustainable funding for priority project and programs as well as engage with new audiences.
