Heritage & CBD grants on offer

Owners and managers of heritage buildings are invited to apply for the latest round of Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s successful Heritage & CBD Grants programs.

Two streams of grants are available for 2020/2021;

1. Local Places Grants, two grants of $5000 each and six grants of $2500 are available for heritage properties in the Goulburn Mulwaree Council area

2. CBD Grants are available that focus on commercial properties located in the B3 Commercial Core Zone. $25,000 is available, amounts will be allocated based on the significance of the item & the work proposed.

Council’s Heritage Grants are funded by Council and the NSW Department of Planning Industry & Environment’s Heritage Office, while the grants focusing specifically on the CBD are fully funded by Council. Successful applicants must match the grant funding dollar for dollar.

“The grants are an important means of encouraging the conservation of our local heritage and improving the appearance of commercial buildings located in Goulburn’s CBD” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

“Goulburn Mulwaree has a wonderful variety of significant historical items, and Council is committed to encouraging the conservation of heritage for the benefit of future generations,” Cr Kirk said.

“The Heritage Grants allow Council to assist owners and managers to maintain and preserve our heritage. Projects are eligible if they involve external repair, maintenance or reinstatement of missing items on heritage assets.”

Council’s Grants cannot be used for the purchase of a building, the relocation of a building, new additions or extensions, interior work or unsympathetic work. Also grants cannot be offered if the work has already taken place.

Grant guidelines, application forms and further information are available from Council’s customer service counter at the Civic Centre in Bourke Street, by phoning 4823 4444. Applications close 4pm Tuesday 28 July 2020.
