Victorian community groups, local councils and schools are being encouraged to apply for funding to improve road safety through a Transport Accident Commission grants program.
Grants of up to $30,000 are available through the TAC’s Community Road Safety Grants program to help not-for-profit organisations and groups develop effective projects targeting local road safety issues.
Applications for this round of the 2020 grants program open October 12 2020 and close on 9 November 2020.
The 2019 recipients of TAC Community Road Safety Grants were:
- Alpine Shire Council’s Ride Like a Local program – $30,000
- City of Monash’s pole-mounted solar LED variable message signs – $26,000
- City of Greater Bendigo’s speed advisory trailer for school and activity zones – $23,000
- City of Casey’s Safe Around School initiative– $10,000
- Moyne Shire Council’s safe speeds project – $20,000
- Wellsprings for Women’s cycling and walking safely program – $12,000
- North Melbourne Primary School’s active and safe travel campaign – $20,000
The TAC Community Grants program is part of the Victorian Government’s 2016-2020 Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan, which seeks to increase engagement with the community about road safety.
