Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Manilla Road at Manilla where an immediate 15-tonne load limit has been placed on the Namoi River Bridge.
Damage to some of the bridge’s support structures was identified last week during regular maintenance work, requiring the load limit to be applied while repairs are carried out.
A signposted detour is in place for all vehicles exceeding 15 tonnes, adding between five and 10 minutes to most journeys.
The detour is via South Street, River Street, Higgins Avenue, McDonald Street, Rangari Road and Charles Street.
Repairs are expected to be complete by the end of May 2020 and the community and stakeholders will be kept informed when the load limit is removed.
Transport for NSW apologises for the late notice and thanks the community and stakeholders for their understanding while repairs are carried out.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
