The Victorian Government is supporting Victoria’s Hindu community to hold religious and cultural events thanks to a new dedicated grants round.
Acting Victorian Minister for Multicultural Affairs Lily D’Ambrosio announced $200,000 will be made available over four years as part of the first ever Hindu Festival and Events Fund.
Almost 135,000 Victorians are Hindu, making our state home to the second largest Hindu population in Australia.
As part of the fund, groups will get support in holding events that help share, celebrate and preserve their culture and traditions.
The types of events to be supported includes performances, festivals, cultural exhibitions and celebrations of Hindu days of significance.
Successful grant recipients will share the Hindu values of compassion, harmony and respect with the broader Victorian community through their festivals and events.
Grant applications for events held between 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2020 are now open.
