The Victorian Government is taking immediate action to boost safety on Ballarat Road in Albion and Ardeer.
Victorian Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC Jaala Pulford announced a package of immediate work the Victorian Government will undertake to make Ballarat Road safer between Deer Park and Sunshine.
The works include a new, safer 70km/h speed limit between McIntyre Road and Glencairn Avenue to reduce the risk and severity of crashes.
New line marking will also be installed at high-risk locations along Ballarat Road between Adelaide Street and Holt Street to encourage drivers to reduce their speeds around bus stops and areas with more pedestrians.
The improvements will boost safety at the Albion and Ardeer sections of Ballarat Road following a fatal crash with a pedestrian earlier in 2019.
The road safety upgrades are part of the $1.4 billion Towards Zero Action Plan and is being delivered in partnership between the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and VicRoads.
The Towards Zero Action Plan aims to reduce the number of lives lost on our roads and decrease serious injuries by 15 per cent by 2020.
