Starting September 1st, the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF) celebrates the annual Save the Koala Month. This month-long celebration highlights the vital necessity for koala conservation and habitat protection, inspiring individuals to engage in various conservation efforts and become koala heroes.
The AKF has introduced a 30-day guide of impactful actions to help Australians engage in Save the Koala Month, which is essential for raising awareness about escalating threats to Koalas’ survival due to habitat loss, climate change, and other factors.
Deborah Tabart OAM, Chair of the Australian Koala Foundation, stated the importance of becoming a Koala Hero by participating in the AKF’s 30-day guide.
“Uniting and becoming Koala Heroes during Save the Koala Month is crucial, as it raises awareness for the escalating challenges Koalas face, from habitat loss to climate change.
“Our 30-day suggestion guide is a fantastic way to guide you through Save the Koala Month, showcasing a collective effort that not only reaffirms the Australian Koala Foundation’s dedication to Koala conservation but also highlights the strength of unity in emphasising this mission,” Tabart says.
The guide provides practical steps that people can take to protect koalas and their habitats—from planting trees, utilising social media for fundraising, or coordinating events within the local community.
Save the Koala Month is an opportunity for individuals and communities to connect with koalas, raise awareness and create a more sustainable future for all.
