Developing South Australia's rural leaders
The South Australian Government is continuing to foster leadership skills in regional communities.
Agriculture and Regional Development Minister Michael O’Brien has invited applications for the 2010 South Australian Rural Leadership Program (SARLP).
“This outstanding program provides assistance to those leaders already forging ahead in their industry, and to those who have the potential to become leaders of the future,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The course provides training to develop the skills that leaders and aspiring leaders require to be successful.”
Mr O’Brien said workshops would be held in Adelaide during October and November.
“The aim of the workshops is to encourage potential leaders to seek an active role in the local community and agricultural industries,” he said.
“The focus is on boosting skills such as strategic planning, negotiation, managing change and team building.
“Applications are encouraged from participants of all ages who are passionate about their industry and community.”
Mr O’Brien said feedback from past participants suggested the program had given them better leadership skills and taught them a lot about themselves.
“It has provided them with increased confidence and motivation to step up and take a leading role in their communities,” he said.
“It’s a key objective of the Rann Labor Government to nurture and foster leadership skills in regional areas.”
Twenty positions are available this year, with FarmReady assistance available for qualifying applications.
The Federal Labor Government’s FarmReady program provides eligible participants with up to $1500 per financial year to attend approved courses.
The workshops will be held at Tiffins on the Park in Adelaide from October 26-29 and November 15-16. Applications close on September 24
