Free workshops to help youth foster skills

Wingecarribee Shire Council is offering a series of free workshops to support the development of skills in young people aged 12 to 24 years.

Council’s Youth Liaison Officer Michelle Williams said the workshops were designed to upskill young people and provide them with greater opportunities for employment, particularly in the entertainment industry.

“Here in the Southern Highlands we’re lucky to have a diverse range of talented young performers,” she said. “These workshops have been designed to encourage leadership and help performers grow in confidence.”

As part of the Cairn Mossy Rock youth opportunities program, six 90-minute workshops in brand cohesion, songwriting and stage presence will be held in Bowral from Monday 6 July 2020.

Workshops are free to attend and will be held at The Venue located at 13/40 Station Street in Bowral.

“For young people looking to develop skills in other areas, we’ve also lined up some other great opportunities in first aid, construction and hospitality,” said Michelle.

“All workshops will be run in line with the State Government’s social distancing measures,” she added.

The Cairn Mossy Rock program is funded by the NSW Government’s Youth Opportunities program. The committee is made up of young people from across the Shire and new members are welcome.
